Name

linx_close() - Close a LINX endpoint

Synopsis

#include <linx_types.h>
#include <linx.h>

int linx_close(LINX *linx);

Description

Close a LINX endpoint that was created by a call to linx_open(3) . Resources owned by this LINX endpoint are freed (signal buffers, attaches, hunts, internal socket). When a LINX endpoint is removed, attach signal buffers are sent to any other LINX endpoint (to their spid identifiers) that have attached to the closing LINX endpoint, with linx_attach(3) .
A LINX endpoint will also be closed if its owner process exits without calling linx_close(3) .

However, the LINX endpoint with its lower level socket is not removed, until the last reference to it through a LINX handle has been closed. See the linx_open(3) for more information about forking processes with LINX endpoints.

linx is the handle to the LINX endpoint to close.

If linx is not a valid LINX endpoint, i.e. created with linx_open(3) then abort(3) is called.

Return Value

Returns 0 if successful, otherwise -1 in which case errno will be set.

Errors

EBADF if the underlying linx structure contains a invalid socket descriptor.

Bugs/Limitations

None.
